A/N: Written for je_prompts~ :) I took cards to mean letter type cards instead of playing cards, because I'm tricky like that. ;)
Summary: Following an accident, the NEWS members send Shige letters while he's recovering in hospital.



"I can't believe you fell off the stage. I mean, seriously.
Well, okay, so it's not the first time someone's just gone and fallen off stage.

Actually, it's not the first time that you've fallen off. What I can't believe is that you fell of the stage and broke your fucking leg. We're in the middle of a concert. You're fucking retarded. You're lucky we've already done Tokyo dome, or you'd probably be sorry you hadn't died when you fell off. Seriously. I hope you get the shit mocked out of you in the DVD this year for being that dumb. Because, and I saw it, so don't deny it, it was your own fault that it happened.

My advice? Next time we're on an elevated stage, don't walk backwards towards an edge littered with electrical cables. Just a friendly tip for you.
Anyway, I'd say, 'take care', but it's already too late for that. Just don't do anything else stupid and get well soon, okay?

"Nishikido-kun. Thank you for the letter... sort of. You're right, I should've been more careful. I'll make sure not to do the same thing again. I'm sorry I ruined the concert for everyone. I hope you'll all come and visit me if you have the time. It's quite boring in the hospital. I'll call Koyama with the visiting hours, and if you can make time for me, I'd be very grateful. Good luck with sorting out the mess with the concerts. I hope they won't all be cancelled because of me, but I guess it's impossible to rearrange everything to make up for my absence. "Shige! Are you feeling any better? I guess your leg must really be in a lot of pain. Anyway, I'm writing to tell you not to take any notice of Ryo-chan's letter. When you were unconscious after your fall, he was so worried about you that he cried. It's member love!

Sorting out all this concert stuff is pretty tough, but we're starting to make progress. I think that if we work our hardest over the next few days, eventually it will begin to get easier. By the way, we all went out to eat yesterday after work. We shared a hot pot, and it was seriously delicious! We thought of you, and we're praying for your steady recovery.

Make sure to be careful of cables from now on, okay? We'll all try and visit you as soon as we can. If you want anything, tell me and I'll try and bring it for you. Otherwise I'll just bring you some flowers. Get well soon!

"Yamashita-san, thank you very much for taking the time to write me a letter. You don't need to bring me anything if you visit, just you taking the trouble to come and see me would make me happy. But if you want to bring me anything, a book or a magazine would be nice, since I'm running out of things to do. I'm glad you're managing the concert situation alright now, I'm sure it must have been very stressful for you.

I'm sorry I injured myself at such an inconvenient time, I'll apologize properly as soon as I'm out of hospital. I'm envious of you guys, going out for hot pot. The food in the hospital is alright, but not really very appetizing. I look forward to being able to go out for dinner with all the members again.

Also, please send my regards to Nishikido-kun for his last letter. I'd write him one back, but I'm not really sure what to say. All the best.

"Shige, I just got off the phone with you right before, but I thought that maybe it'd be nice if I wrote you a letter like Ryo and Yamapi did. I was going to write it by hand, but I ended up messing up the kanji and so that's why it's all typed up instead. Sorry about that, it feels so impersonal like this.

I promise I tried really hard on my last attempt, I even got a dictionary and looked up the hard kanji, but then when I went to get a glass of water, I came back and since I was writing it on the floor, Nyanta had sat on it while I wasn't looking and was ripping it up. I can't believe it, really. I thought that was something that dogs did, not cats, but he was sitting on top of the paper, scratching at it, and then tearing off little bits with his mouth. Maybe he was bored? I've heard that cats do strange things when they're bored. Maybe I should go and buy him a new toy. What do you think?

Oh, by the way, we got hot pot a couple of days ago. I thought of you. They had some weird things on the menu at that place, and I read some of them wrong, but Tegoshi just corrected me and no one took any notice after that. I know you would have laughed at me if you'd been there. When I thought about it like that, it made me miss you. I'll come visit you soon, I promise. I have lots of things to talk about. I'm sending you positive thoughts! Hopefully they'll make you get well quicker.

"Oi, what kind of stupid letter was that! Writing to me straight after we've talked on the phone. How could you possibly have anything left to say? And half the letter was practically about writing the letter, so I guess that you started without any topics in mind. Also, next time you can just write it by hand. You don't need to use any hard kanji, and even if you do and get it wrong, I'm sure I'll know what you mean. It's not that hard to figure out.

Anyway, I actually got your letter just after I got off the phone with you again today, which made it seem even stupider. If we're talking so often through other means, writing a letter about every day stuff like this seems a bit pointless. I'm sorry that Nyanta doesn't like the new toy that you talked about on the phone today. Cats are so contrary, aren't they? They'll play with and tear up the things you need, but don't take any interest in the things you get for them. It's interesting, really.

Yamapi told me about you all getting hot pot. You're really a fool, aren't you? You're right about me laughing at you, though. I'd probably have written about it in my next essay, somehow. I laughed when I read your letter, even though I don't know what you misread. I guess that reading and writing is one area you'll never improve in, but at least try a bit harder, all the same.

"Shige! (^_^) How are you feeling? I think it's so cute that everyone's writing letters to you, so I thought, why not do it myself? Massu is here too (Massu: Hi!), so that means that all the members will have sent you a letter! Hope you don't mind that it's a joint effort from Massu and me! I'm sure it's fine, though.

Anyway, sorry we haven't visited! It's been quite busy sorting out what to do about the cancellation of the concert, but I did have time to take a walk the other day! I went in the evening, and I ended up on a hill. The sunset was sooo beautiful from there! Come for a walk with me soon, and I'll show you! Oopss, Massu reminded me just as I wrote that part that you have a broken leg! Ha ha ha, sorry! (>_<;) I guess you can't go for a walk after all, then! Well, I'll go with Kei-chan instead and we'll take photos for you and send them to your phone.

Oh, that reminds me, I kept meaning to tell you that I think your photography has improved a lot! Keep working hard on it, okay? (Massu: Ah, Tegoshi is looking down on you from so high up! I can't see him anymore. He's flown off somewhere~) Oh, I'm not acting superior, am I?
It's true, Shige's photography has really gotten much better! I remember when Koyama said that half the photos you took were always blurry, but it seems you're past that stage now. I guess you can't take proper photos until you're better though, ne? Shige must be so bored right now. Ah, Massu hasn't said much in this letter, has he? Massu, write something for Shige~

"Shige is so mean. I went to the trouble of writing you a letter and you called me stupid. But anyway, I did my best for you, so as you can see, the letter is hand-made this time. And I guess if you're reading this, it means that Nyanta didn't tear it up either. Oh, by the way, he likes his new toy now! I'm so glad it wasn't a waste buying it after all. I think I'll come and see you again the day after tomorrow. I'm so lonely without you around, Shige. I miss yoooou!

I'll bring you a hand held game when I come next, okay? That way you'll be able to entertain yourself a little easier. I'm so nice! I'm sure you miss me a lot too, right? I hope so, anyway. It'd be sad if I was missing you by myself.

Oh, and I found you some new music I think you'll like. Actually, I had to ask Ryo-chan, because your taste is quite similar to his, but I'll just listen to anything, so I can't be sure. It's fine that you haven't visited. It's my fault that so much trouble was caused, and that you're so busy. I'm glad you found somewhere nice to take a walk, but you don't have to tell me about it. You really can't read situations well at all, can you? Asking someone with a broken leg to go walking with you... really, you should think about things a little more seriously.

You know, whenever you talk down to me, it always seems to be from a little higher up each time. Stop acting so superior! It really gets on my nerves. But anyway, I'd be happy to get some photos if you do go for a walk again soon. Keep Koyama busy for me, or he just calls and visits and writes all the time. I don't know how he manages all that, plus work. Maybe he's bored. Also, thanks Massu. My leg hurts less and less each day. I hope you can visit, but don't feel bad if you haven't got the time. Say thanks to Nishikido-kun for choosing the songs as well, I like them a lot. Yes, yes, I do miss you a bit. You call so often it's hard to miss you a lot though. I'm not going to die from a broken leg if you leave me alone for a few days, so stop worrying so much.

He likes to hold it with his front paws and kick it with his back legs. It's cute! I'll send you a picture to your phone! Oh, and what level are you at in the game? You must have gotten quite far by now, right? I said thanks to Ryo for you, but he just told me to stop acting like your girlfriend.

Can't believe you only miss me a little bit! Calls aren't good enough. I want to see you. Don't tell me you're only satisfied with just calls, Shige. And I already said sorry about bumping your cast! But okay, next time I hug you I promise I'll be a lot more careful.

"It's late at night, and I'm not sure why I'm writing this, because I only just wrote you a letter today and I haven't even posted it yet. But I just woke up from a bad dream about you, and I needed to write to you again. I think it must've been an anxiety dream, because in it you fell off the stage again, and I ran down to help you, only you weren't moving or breathing. It was so scary, Shige, I woke up crying.

I've been really worried about you ever since you ended up in hospital. I know you've been acting fine, but whenever I visit you I can see you're unhappy. I guess it's because of the whole thing with the concert and the fans, and I know you feel like you've let all of them down and all of us down. And knowing you, you've totally multiplied it in your head and you're thinking you've let the whole of Japan down instead. You're so silly.

But anyway, I want to make you feel better. I'll try and come see you tomorrow and do my best to cheer you up. I know you'll probably get these letters after I see you instead, but I'll send them anyway. Good night, Shige. Miss you lots. And lots.

You didn't have to run off so fast after kissing me without waiting for my reaction. It's so typical of you to do something like that with no warning. If you like me, confess properly next time I see you, okay? I'm getting out of hospital tomorrow, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to do it.

It's true that I've been depressed about letting everyone down with my failure at the concert. How could I not be? But to be honest, you did make me feel a lot better. So like I said, stop worrying.
